Mnémosyne Musique Média

Profile

Mnémosyne Musique Média is a French publishing house and distributor, associated with the Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges (IMEB). After the Institute's unfortunate shutdown in 2011, Mnémosyne Musique Média remained active for a few more years, even though it appeared to be currently defunct. In 1986, IMEB produced their first release, [m=493947] compilation, which was released on CD and vinyl by [l=Le Chant Du Monde] and distributed by [l=Harmonia Mundi]. The label had been responsible for a several follow-up releases, until around 1994 the Bourges Institute established Mnémosyne Musique, with all further editions published through it. Two album series were produced: [l= Cultures Électroniques] – documenting winning compositions from Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique, a prestigious electroacoustic competition organized by IMEB from 1973 to 2010; and [l=Chrysopée Électronique] with solo albums, retrospective collections, and themed compilations recorded over the years at GMEB/IMEB studios. Even after the initial distribution contract with Le Chant Du Monde was terminated, Mnémosyne Musique Média kept using LDC xxxxxx catalog numbers. In addition to music albums, Mnémosyne Musique Média also produced Festival Synthèse CD-ROM series, with 10 discs released from 1997 to 2006, and published several IMEB periodicals and books, including five issues of Revues Faire (1973–79) magazine, and the proceedings of Académie internationale de musique électroacoustique '98–2007 in eight volumes.
