Série IMEB-UNESCO-CIME

Profile

Série imeb / UNESCO / CIME was a sub-label, appearing on the front cover of [l=Cultures Électroniques] compilations. The 20-vol series, released between 1986 and 2007, and produced by [l=IMEB] (Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges), documented all 189 prize-winning compositions from Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique – a prestigious electroacoustic competition, which had been organized at Bourges since 1973, curated and hosted by GMEB/IMEB, and supported by [l=UNESCO] and [l=C.I.M.E.] The competition soon became one of the most prestigious European contests for electronic/electroacoustic arts, with 500-600 composers from around the world submitting their works each year. The label had several variations: - SERIE UNESCO/CIME – on the first release in the series, [m=493947] (2xLP/LP/CD) - SÉRIE… and SERIE GMEB/UNESCO/CIME – appears on Vol 2-9 (1987 – '97) - SÉRIE INSTITUT / UNESCO / CIME – one-time variation on [r=315599] ('98) - Série imeb / UNESCO / CIME – on remaining Vol 11-20 ('99 – 2007)
