Cultures Électroniques

Profile

Cultures Électroniques is a series of compilations, produced by a French electroacoustic music center [l=IMEB] – Institut international de musique électroacoustique de Bourges, and documenting winning works from Concours International de Musique Electroacoustique, a prestigious electroacoustic competition organized by IMEB since 1973. Twenty volumes on 38 compact discs (most releases are 2xCD), issued from 1986 to 2007, include all 189 prize-winning compositions from 141 composers representing 29 countries, serving as an international reference directory for the Bourges Competition. The first compilation, [m=493947], was released on CD and vinyl in 1986 by [l=Le Chant Du Monde] label, distributed by [l=Harmonia Mundi]. Volumes 2-5 were also released by Le Chant Du Monde, until around 1994 IMEB established [l=Mnémosyne Musique Média] in-house publishing and distribution company, and the contract with Le Chant/Harmonia Mundi was terminated. Nevertheless, Mnémosyne Musique continued to use LDC xxxxxx catalog numbers for all further releases.
