MoWest Studios

Profile

Recording studio in Los Angeles, California, USA. Originally called [l=Poppi Studios], in September 1971 the facility was purchased by [l=Motown] founder [a=Berry Gordy] and renamed MoWest Studios. This coincided with the founding of the [l=MoWest] label and was part of Motown's move from Detroit (where it operated the Hitsville USA Studios) to Los Angeles. By 1974 the move was complete and the studio became [l=Motown/Hitsville U.S.A. Recording Studios].
