Parent company of the [l=Motown] label, founded in Detroit, Michigan, but relocated entirely to California in 1972. Sometime U.S. distributor of [l11717], [l28418], [l=Gull], Manticore. Succeeded in 1988 by [l266901] after sale of assets to MCA Records. Legally operated under this name from 4 April 1960 to 28 July 1975, and again from 17 October 1975 to 30 June 1988.
