The Albion Band

The Albion Band was an English folk rock band. Originally used as a name to credit the musicians hired to accompany [b][a=Shirley Collins][/b] in 1971, the Albion Band later became a group in their own right. Bass player [b][a=Ashley Hutchings][/b], who had previously founded and left both [a=Fairport Convention] and [a=Steeleye Span], is the driving force behind this group. The members use acoustic and electric instruments to create a folk-rock sound something like Fairport Convention's. They initially called themselves [i]The Albion Country Band[/i], then [i]The Albion Dance Band[/i] and finally simply [i]The Albion Band[/i].
