Parlet

Spinoff P-Funk group formed by veteran backing vocalists [a=Debbie Wright], [a=Mallia Franklin] & [a=Jeanette Washington] in 1978. Casablanca Records was excited about [a=George Clinton]'s new group and did a promotional campaign for their first record: [m19681], but Debbie had to drop out of the group due to health reasons. [a=Shirley Hayden] was brought in to replace Debbie and they opened for [a=Parliament]-[a=Funkadelic] on tour for a while. Mallia Franklin left in 1979 to help form [a=Sterling Silver Starship] with then-husband and [a=Parliament] bassist [a=Donnie Sterling]. [a=Janice Evans] replaced Mallia halfway through the recording of their second album, "Invasion of the Booty Snatchers" (1979). Parlet released one last album, "Play Me or Trade Me", in 1980.
