«A myth is never “this” or “that”, an object logically connected to a subject […] One must relate to a myth not as an instrument, but as a speaking word, and not as an “explanation” of a rational concept, but as an “evocation” […] A myth does not so much disclose an interpretation as an experience […] It does not signify, it indicates and shows». Umberto Galimberti’s words (Orme del sacro, Milano, Feltrinelli, 2000, pp. 39-41) descried myths and are well suited to introduce Mitologie (1996-2003) for piano by Daniele Lombardi. It is indeed in Mitologie that Lombardi seeks to continue his research for reaching the listener with new means of sound, able to produce an immediate effect on the audience. And the road indicated by the author in this work is that of evocation.
