Ghost (I Don't Live Today)
Overview
Ghost (I Don't Live Today) --- 2007
Ghost (I don't live today) was recorded live at the Kitchen in NYC on March 9, 1985. "For this performance Christian Marclay used his phonoguitar, a modified turntable that he strapped around his neck, to play records by Jimi Hendrix, emulating the legendary guitarist's moves and sometimes thrusting the turntable into the amp to create loud screeching feedback. A video clip made from edited and looped film footage of Hendrix projected behind Marclay provided a ghostly accompaniment. Marclay initiated created the phonoguitar for Guitar crash, a 1983 collaborative performance with the dancer & choregrapher Yoshiko Chuma which allowed him to move around the stage and interact with the dancer." Released for the exhibition at Cabinet des estampes (Geneva, Switzerland) "Audio: une proposition" (March 30 to 2 July 2006) curated by Francis Baudevin.
