Second Rhapsodie—Part 3 / Pastorale
Overview
Second Rhapsodie—Part 3 / Pastorale --- 1920-03-00
Liner Notes Reads: RACHMANINOFF has interpolated his own cadenza, pregnant in brilliancy, but deeply sombre in its Cossack strain, in passing from the lassan, (slow section) with its indolence of the gypsy East in its fragrance of heavily scented harems, the the friska, (quick section) vibrating with the dash of vigor and Magyar peasant dance and pulsating with the throbbing of the velvet throated chimes of the Hungarian desert winding caravans. In both the "Rhapsodie" and the beautiful "Pastorale" by Scarlatti-Tausig, Rachmaninoff is pre-eminent in his crispness, his crystallic clearness of technique and his finished execution. The deep personality of poetic genius surges through his every interpretation, whether as pianist, composer or conductor. Repressed in 1925 as [r=10479380] Piano solos Etched labels
