Overview
Sounds Of Sharpness Silver Band --- 1980
Sleeve Notes 1980 sees the tenth anniversary of the Sharpness and District Silver Band and to mark the occasion the Band proudly present this their second L.P. record. Much has been achieved over the past years by this much sought after popular village Band and despite many changes within the ranks, the high standard of playing and presentation has been maintained. Apart from numerous local garden fetes, concerts and similar functions the Band has become well known to a very wide audience and have also undertaken a second visit to Holland. The future of Sharpness and District Silver Band is well assured due to tremendous public support which together with sponsorship by Messrs. Trent Wharfage Limited has more than encouraged the appreciation of brass banding in the locality. Thanks are expressed to all who have made this record possible. Reg Ridler has been conductor of the Band for its ten years and during this time he has become a great favourite with the young members both past and present. Backed by an enthusiastic Committee, Reg has taken the Band from strength to strength and continued to gain support and congratulations for the effort and hard work put in. Edna May is the deputy Bandmaster and in an unassuming manner provides Reg with new and replacement players from her competent learner section which is ever increasing in numbers. For both no task is too small and with the children they have reaped deserved reward from young and old from all walks of life. We look forward to the next ten years.
