Pickin' & Fiddlin', Wheatstraw Suite and Copperfields

Overview

Pickin' & Fiddlin', Wheatstraw Suite and Copperfields --- 2004-07-00

Three albums on two CDs. Pickin' and Fiddlin' (Disc 1, Tracks 1-16) originally issued on Elektra EKS-7285 (1965) Wheatstraw Suite (Disc 2, Tracks 1-13) originally issued on Elektra EKS-74035 (1968) Copperfields (Disc 2, Tracks 14-26) originally issued on Elektra EKS-74054 (1970) Disc 1, Tracks 17-20 were originally issued on Capitol singles #5494 and #5524 respectively, 1965. However, the original 45 mixes were not used here. This is particularly apparent on tracks 19 and 20, where the vocals are nearly inaudible in spots. There is a typo on the CD tray card - CD 1, track 2's title is corrupted to "Fisher's" with no number listed. Although not credited either here or on the original release of Copperfields, it is likely that uncredited players on that album include Buddy Emmons (pedal steel), Bob West (upright bass on "Brother John" and "Pictures"), Joe Osborn (electric bass) and John Boylan (piano).
