Overview
Rosslyn Road --- 2008
100 copies only, this one is 048. Signed by both brothers. from http://www.billynicholls.com/shop/rosslyn-road This folk album is something I've wanted to to do for a long time, and it's a big departure from the songs I normally write. It's a collaboration with my brother Mike, and has additional music from Paddy Moloney of the Chieftains. The title track was written about the abortion clinic in Rosslyn Road. Many years ago I saw a young boy hand over some money to a girl outside the clinic and I made a mental note to write about it. Here is the story in a modern folk song. In total contrast 'Sally In Our Alley' is a very old song with words by Henry Carey (1633-1743) and was sung to me as a child by my Grandfather. 'Crazy Jane On God' has lyrics by the poet: W.B. Yeats and set to music by Mike, Paddy and Myself. Unfortunately, there was an error in the liner notes; which omitted to say that Mike Nicholls played Harmonium and Acoustic Bass on this track.
