Symphony No. 1 In E Minor --- 1947
Repress on RCA Victor labels with NO patent text in the circles (1947 or later). Auto-coupled release ("drop-automatic"). Recorded October 25, 1941, in the Academy of Music, Philadelphia, Pa. Issued in April, 1942, as Victor Musical Masterpiece set M-881 (records 18499 through 18502), and, in automatic sequence, as DM-881 (records 18503 through 18506). Matrix & take numbers: CS-071200-2A, CS-071201-1, CS-071202-1, CS-071203-1, CS-071204-1, CS-071205-1, CS-071206-1, CS-071207-1. This was Ormandy's second recording of the Sibelius First Symphony; the first one was made with the Minneapolis Symphony in 1935 (Victor Musical Masterpiece Set M-290). Two more would follow with the Philadelphia Orchestra, both in stereo: one for Columbia in 1962 (MS-6395), and one for RCA in 1978 (ARL1-4901).
