This is the first UK version for this cat#. LABELS: - Black/silver 'grooved wideband' labels - "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" at 11 o'clock - "Made in England" at bottom - "RECORDING FIRST PUBLISHED 1958" - No speed indication on labels - Decca 'Muscial Notes' logo on all sides - Matrix numbers printed upside-down BOX: - Grey, hinged box - Triangular "DECCA STEREOPHONIC" logo on front - Spine has a magenta coloured stripe pasted on it which shows the title and the cat# - Back of box is blank (grey) LIBRETTO: - 20 pages (NOTE: identical version with 10-page booklet also released - liner notes in English, libretto in German/English) - Contains liner notes, photos of the recording and the libretto in German language with an English translation - "Published by the Publicity Department" - "© Copyright of translation reserved by The Decca Record Company Ltd., London, 1957" - The chapter "Notes on the Artists" is signed "H.D.R." OTHER INFORMATION: - Recorded 13 - 28 May 1957 in the Sofiensaal, Vienna - Labelography code: ED1 - Corresponding mono issue has cat# [url=http://www.discogs.com/release/1216294]LXT 5389-90[/url] - Misspelled titles/tracks on this release:  Title on front of box: "Todesverkundigung" instead of "Todesverkündigung"  Track B: "schmählisch" instead of "schmählich"  Track B: "Brunnhilde's" instead of "Brünnhilde's" - Side numbers are in auto-coupled order - Side number 4 (which has Act 2 on it) is (mis)printed as side 2 on the label. - Act 1, with Flagstad as Sieglinde and conducted by Knappertsbusch, was recorded in October 1957.  These fragments, effectively trial runs for the "Ring", were superseded by Solti’s complete recording in Oct - Nov 1965.  See John Culshaw, "Ring Resounding", pages 73-75.
