The Big QP --- 2012-04-13
Also available as digital download in various file formats. The Big QP is the latest offering from rowdy rap drinkers TPS FAMILY. The South London group have been putting out material for around 6 years now but with the latest release they have found their own voice and style. After years on the edge of a congested British scene they have reached out internationally and are establishing fan-bases in Australia, Europe and America. They recently spent a week in New York working with some of the top underground artists of the moment and are now they are looking to build on this and finally get the recognition they deserve. Jack Diggs and The Strange Neighbour share production duties on all but one track, Intoxicated, produced by Hermit Tha Slob. The beats have a dusty boom bap feel throughout and the preference for old school production methods is explained in the track Crate Digging Music. The Big QP is a much more focused album than previous efforts, focusing on the crew’s lives and observations rather than the box-ticking exercise many contemporary albums tend to be. Superficial posturing and ill-informed political statements make way for tales of drunken drug fuelled debauchery and escaping everyday tedium through music. The album Big QP is named after and dedicated to graffiti artist and close affiliate of the group Mark "Difa" Grover, nicknamed the Quality Punter, who sadly passed away in June 2011.
