The Bickett Residency

Overview

The Bickett Residency --- 2006

In the winter of 2005, a local progressive artspace called The Bickett Gallery invited us to be their Artists-In-Residence for the duration of the spring. We were afforded a unique venue, five dates, and various resources. This gesture of trust left us reeling with the possibilities contained within. Our response was to completely reinvent our band, in practice and in performance. Each Member was to examine their personal strengths and weaknesses, then decide on an individual theme for their curation. The resulting research and findings would then be taught to other members of the band. We feel that the process of growth is infused with risk and challenge. Hopefully, these recordings will serve to document some part of that process. Thank you for sharing it with us. DeYarmond Edison Raleigh, North Carolina This is a handmade double disc album which documents the band's four residency dates at the Bickett Gallery in Raleigh, North Carolina. Recorded March 1, 2006. Along with the two CDs, the package also includes typewritten liner notes by all four members of the band, detailing the set that each member curated.
