Symphony No. 5, In E Minor – Andante Cantabile – Part 3 / Snow Maiden – Dance Of The Tumblers --- 1924-03-00

Released on two 78-rpm records Part 1 & 2 of the Symphony issued on Victorola 6430 "[r=12239259]." Symphony No. 5 recorded April 30, 1923 at Camden Church Studio (Victor Building No. 22) Camden, NJ. Dance of the Tumblers recorded March 19, 1923 at Camden Church. (originally recorded with single-sided Victor catalog numbers 74848 & 74849, but never issued in that format (along with other scheduled single-sided catalog numbers at the end of the 74000 Series as Victor began issuing double-sided releases in 1923-24). Matrix & take numbers: C-27906- 2 / C-27938- 1. Instrumentation: 7 first violins, 4 second violins, 2 cellos, 3 flutes, 2 oboes, English horn, contra bassoon, 2 clarinets, 2 cornets, 4 horns, tuba, baritone, bass clarinet, saxophone, harp, and traps. This recording is complete as issued; apparently, there was no thought of recording the entire symphony (which, of course, Stokowski did several times in subsequent years).
