I Spit Lies --- 2005

"I Spit Lies was our first time in a “real studio”. It was a learning experience. If we’d known how little we understood of the recording process we might not have attempted to record this particular track. We had two days to record it and from memory we came in on the second day and scrapped the entire first day. Tommy and I went to town on the overdubs while Patto avoided them as best he could. Despite there being no drugs involved I felt it was essential to record two separate tracks of gong and the sound of me kicking cymbals down the stairs. In hindsight it could have been engineered better. The tape hiss is almost overbearing at times, when we took the raw files to Barry Stockely to mix he just shook his head."
