En Garde!

Overview

En Garde! --- 2008-09-01

Before the Krontjong Devils start thanking everyone for their help in putting out this record, they apologize to their fans in the Netherlands and to their fans worldwide for being out of touch for so long. Sorry. They were not lazy the last 4 years, but just preoccupied with their new hobby -- which is, of course, sword fighting. Maybe they were a little too ambitious. Just like their colleague Bruce Dickinson, Irom Maiden's lead singer, they set their sights on competing in the Olympic sword fighting event. And when the Krontjong Devils get an idea in their head, you can't stop them. Fortunately, they were not that talented, except for Nico. He was asked to join the Dutch Olympic team but he refused. He's go only if the other Krontjong Devils came along. "One for all, all for one" was his answer to the IOC. And then they suddenly realized what they'd been doing. The were forsaking their real talent: making wild, wet, reverbn-drenched surf music. Errare humanum est. And now, the Krontjong Devils would like to thank a couple of people. First of all, Marthy Coumans for the incredible sound on this record, Walter Tremp and his recording facilities, Former member Jan Veenstra for the excellent photography, Hedwig for laying the Oet, Henk Smit of schermvereniging Heerenleed, Sander Zwanenburg of schermvereniging GSSV Donar 1881 for letting us use their clothes, the Oetstar Record Company for their trust in us, and the Hobbyrock Foundation for giving us financial carte blanche in this enterprise. One last thing, fighting ain't no solution but it can be a great hobby. Au revoir.
