The Question Is... --- 2001

[From insert] EASTMAN JAZZ TRIO? QUARTET? Perhaps a brief explanation is in order. This recording presents performances by the Eastman Jazz Trio, the in-house faculty rhythm section of the Eastman School of Music, recorded in various sessions since the trio was formed two and a half years ago. It also includes three tracks in which the trio proudly welcomes trumpeter Clay Jenkins, the newest member of the Eastman jazz faculty effectively giving birth to a parallel entity: the Eastman Jazz Quartet. Here is diverse and challenging music by players steeped in the scope and variety of jazz. While all teach at Eastman, Messrs. Danko, Thompson, Campbell, and Jenkins bring far more than academic experience to this recording. They're all players who have already cut a wide swath through the world of jazz. The Question Is... launches the EASTMAN IN CONCERT series. Each recording in this new series showcases Eastman School of Music faculty artists in exceptional performances.
