Overview
The Herd Girl's Dream / Happy Days --- undefined
Side A (Mx. B-10665-2) and Side B (Mx. B-10660-3) were recorded June 30, 1911, Camden, New Jersey. Originally released in November, 1911 on Victor "Patents" label. This issue, on Victor "Batwing" label without "Victor" shown on the side of the phonograph and "75c. in U.S.A." to left of spindle hole Label size is 2.75'' in diameter. These features indicate a 1916-1917 repressing. Note - this record remained in the Victor catalog for many years. Issues released before 1920 contain songs recorded on the June, 1911 date. Both tracks were re-recorded acoustically by the Neapolitan Trio and new recordings kept original matrix numbers ("The Herd Girl's Dream" on 10/24/1919 and "Happy Days", recorded by [a1784779] with different accompanists, on 1/17/1923). These new tracks were also released on Victor 16967. The 1919 version of "Herd Girl" is distinguishable by the presence of [a732721] on bells. Both tracks were again re-recorded by [a1784779] with different accompanists, in July, 1925 (this time electrically) and released on Victor 19872 in February, 1926.
