Les Maitres Du Piano Vol. 1
Overview
Les Maitres Du Piano Vol. 1 --- 1987
Durée: 66'32 The recordings presented here have been partly reproduced from cylinders made during the years 1900-1910, at the very beginning of phonograph history. They provide a precious testimony to the performances of the most celebrated pianists who were in the early stages of their careers at the beginning of the present century. Most of them left practically no recordings, to the greatest regret of musicians. After much long and patient research which finally succeeded in unearthing these priceless archives of a museum which - alas! - could have remained imaginary - so great was the impression they had disappeared for ever, several years of meticulous laboratory work were necessary to enable a copy of the cylinders to be mastered onto magnetic tape. For example, several filtering processes and corrections were required in order to eliminate a great deal of extraneous noise on the original tracks. Thus these great pianists can once again be heard putting their immense talent to the service of great masterworks.
