Overview
Take What You Can Carry (Scientist Dub One) --- 2020-02-20
Info from Bandcamp: This song is about the Japanese American internment camp experience and its relevance in today's world of racial profiling, xenophobia, immigration crisis and environmental change. Mia Doi Todd's mother and grandmother, who were both US citizens born in LA, were among the 120,000 Japanese Americans interned in the US during World War II. Mia's grandparents are pictured in the historical photo used as the cover image, waiting to have their fingerprints taken at Tule Lake Internment Camp. On February 20, 2020, California lawmakers passed a resolution to formally apologize to Japanese-Americans for the Legislature's role in their incarceration. It is important to shed light on the Japanese American experience so that it will not happen again. Recorded at Barefoot Studio, Los Angeles
