Overview
Mistreated Blues / You Can't Do What My Last Man Did --- 1923-09-00
First advertised in The Chicago Defender on September 20, 1923. First copies of Paramount 12043 had "I'm Going Away To Wear You Off My Mind" performed by Alberta Hunter & Eubie Blake on the B side. This version was first advertised in The Chicago Defender on August 4, 1923. See [r12132282]. B side title was changed to "You Can't Do What My Last Man Did" but three different versions of releases with this title exist: - Version 1 lacks writing credits and contains matrix 1456-1, which was performed by Alberta Hunter & Eubie Blake. Labels credit "Alberta Hunter and Bubie Blake". - Version 2 is credited to Anna Jones and Thomas Waller and although labels show matrix 1469, the actually recording is matrix 1456-1 (Hunter & Blake). - Version 3 is credited to Anna Jones and Thomas Waller and actually contains the recording by these artists (matrix 1469-1). The release described on this page is either Version 2 or 3. Inspection of the B-side runout is necessary to distinguish them.
