Maxwell's Silver Hammer

Overview

Maxwell's Silver Hammer --- 1972

THE WORLD'S NUMBER ONE INSTRUMENTAL-VOCAL GROUP Quote from George Harrison... "When you see Sounds on stage you realise how good a group can be." The Story of Sounds Inc. is the story of a one time backing group to such international stars as Cilla Black, Little Richard, and Brenda Lee who not only became the most sought after instrumental group in the world but who only two years later created he same demand in the world of cabaret. In Australia as in America and all parts of Europe Sounds Inc. means entertainment...instrumental, vocal, and comedy routines all appear in the act somewhere. The question that we are always asked is when and where did Sounds Inc. first work with the Beatles? Answer...as far back as Hamburg in '62 they played together and later on tours in England as well as America and Australia. Sounds Inc. were featured on the million seller LP "Sergeant Pepper's" which brings us to their latest record written by Lennon and McCartney and titled "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". Recorded in Tangerine Studios London, the producers were Carl Green of Herman's Hermits and Stuart Taylor currently appearing in the West End show "Hair". Trevor White - is the latest member of the group joining them during the summer of '68. Apart from his fine piano and organ playing he is also a very fine vocalist. Trevor is just twenty-one. Alan Homes - the multi-instrumentalist of the group, manages six different woodwind instruments - sometimes playing two at once His drive in the brass section really needs to be listened to. Wes Hunter - handsome, muscular, sex feet three, plays bass, classical cello, guitar and banjo all the time acting as fall guy for ...Major, this fun loving character best described as a human dynamo also plays several wind instruments but in the main is the comedy man; but don't let this fool you Major has been credited with more solo tenor solos than even the great Nic Sndus who in case you did not already know is the secret writer of "B" sides. John St. John - the 6 feet 2 player of both six and 12 string guitars plus vibrating electric washing line loves his work. It shows in his face as well as the professional way he projects his music. Terry Fogg - quiet and reserved but nevertheless propelling Sounds along with that dynamic pulse that has become their trademark also sings and plays bass guitar and piano.
