“On August 2nd, 2013, 17-month-old Lavarice Elliot's father was killed by a drunk driver in Biddeford, Maine as the family was out for a bike ride. The boy and his mother, Melodie Brennan, were both injured in the incident also but lived. We over here at PDank noticed that the boy's mom was struggling to make ends meet after the accident. This broke our hearts. We thought of doing a benefit show in Portland, Maine to raise money for Lavarice and his mom BUT... with Thanksgiving coming this week, Christmas in a month, and a cold Maine winter beyond that, we couldn't wait. Plus, not everybody who would want to help this little boy and his mom out lives in Maine. So, we conceived the idea of fundraising online but throwing in a few rare or unreleased tracks by PDank artists as an incentive to get those to contribute who may not be from Maine. So, here, on the first annual PDanksgiving Charity Compilation, you will find rare and unreleased tracks by Spose, Essence, Shane Reis, Jay Caron and Mike Be (as Ock Cousteau), Kristina Kentigian, and even the elusive intergalactic funk missionary Doctor Astronaut who hasn't been seen since the Earth year 2010. Cam Groves even went above and beyond to contribute a brand new song entitled "King of the Ant Hill" which features a new verse from Spose as well. The compilation also features cuts from the never-before-released-online "Spose Unplugged" album. Please contribute whatever you can. The album costs $7.00 and all the money goes to Lavarice and his mother to help them through the holidays. If you want to pay more, you can. Even if you can just buy one track for a dollar, everything helps. We know PDank is about dope rhymes and being content with your life and feeling good and representing the state of Maine but it's also about helping out the underdogs and the less fortunate. This year, we've chose Lavarice as our cause. Next year we'll pick another cause close to us.” From bandcamp release
