Poisons Sipped

Overview

Poisons Sipped --- 2014

Recorded at "The Strand" courtesy of Dive House Union and Redbooth Recording Studios. Additional production assistance by Levi Bennett. Cardboard multi-fold CD jacket My special thanks to Jesse Miller for his arrangements, his keyboard playing, constant ear and for pointing this project in the right direction. I especially thank Jesse for connecting me with Carlton Campbell and Derek Bennett who are the most mind-blowing rhythm section to work with. They have been amazing in and out of the studio and it's been a pleasure to call them bandmates and now friends. This album would not sound the way it does without Brian Moore of Redbooth Studios and his incredible patience, ears, creative import, ears, work ethic, mad skills, oh, and did I say ears? You did a pro job! A special thanks to my Dive House Union Brothers for being patient and understanding with me as I build this solo project. I truly hope that this will help open doors for all of us. I'd like to also thank Bruce Moser for his ongoing faith and efforts on my behalf as we try to get this album and the project behind it to the masses. Now the major run-on sentence of thank yous The incredible Chuck Campbell and Derek Campbell of the Campbell brothers who jumped in with some sweet pedal and lip steel, the very talented Rufus McGee Jr. on the B3, the legendary Jim Ehinger on organ and keys for pushing me musically and philosophically, Barry Arbogast for his friendship, even head to balance mine and his signature sax lines, Jason Moynihan for jumping into this new project and bringing his sax with him, Steven Jacob Mclean for the sweet horn work, Ronnie Davis for the real accordion magic, my gals Sarina young, Jasmine, and Ashley Brown who I should be singing backup for not the other way around -- angels, Levi Bennett for the introduction to those angels and his session pep talks, Nick Peterson for the incredible artwork and loyal friendship, Tommy Z for inspiration, mentorship and encouragement -- you've become a trusted friend, the many, many, many fans was taught me more about playing music than anything else -- you know who you are and at the risk of running out of ink and / or missing a name, we'll leave it there, Scott Freilich for my beloved Kalamazoo and Chuck DeRose for my 335, Henry at Redplate Amps for the sponsorship and incredible amplifiers, the fertile earth of the Buffalo music scene which helped me get this far in so many ways from jams to gigs to collaborations and inspirations -- we have what other cities need, and the host of channelers, vessels of vibe, storytellers, sonic statesman and stateswomen, dreamers, artists and spiritual sound smiths who have poured their souls into music and allowed me to drink from a deep cup. Finally I want to thank Anita West who is my now adopted sister, partner in crime, fellow wave surfer, got my back girl and trusted advisor let's see how she'll do at sea, captain...Sicily is waiting!
