Memories Of Åke "Stan" Hasselgård

Overview

Memories Of Åke "Stan" Hasselgård --- 1955

The band's original billing is as the Bob Laine -- Gösta Törner Sextet Recorded at Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien (Royal Academy of Music), Stockholm. This is a double-EP reissue of tracks from five Cupol 78rpm-10" records released 1947-48: Cupol 4011 - [r10178491]: C2 + D1 [Rec. May 3, 1947] Cupol 4012 (Side A) - [r9461024]: A1 [Rec. May 3, 1947] Cupol 4017 - [r9370647]: D2 + A2 [Rec. June 11, 1947] Cupol 4018 - [r9495621]: B1 + C1 [Rec. June 11 (B1), June 12 (C1), 1947] Cupol 4020 (Side B) - [r12032437]: B2 [Rec. June 12, 1947] Guitarist [a1034442] is listed in the liner notes, but does not participate in these recording sessions. Track B2 is rendered as "Some Day, Sweetheart". Track D2: "Baa Baa Little Black Cheep [sic!]" is described as being composed by Bob Laine and Gösta Törner. The correct credits are that this is a well known Swedish children song "Bä, Bä, Vita Lamm" with text and melody by Alice Tegnér. Her text is actually a translation of an English nursery rhyme, "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep", going back at least to the 18th century. All discographical information is taken from the updated "Svensk jazzdiskografi 1899-1999", available here: http://old.visarkiv.se/jazzdisk_se.htm
