Volume 8 of a series of 20 releases. Installments were not released in chronological order; this volume was the 11th to be released. Hardcover book in Japanese order ("back-to-front"), 22 pages, with record sleeve in back cover. This installment covers the year Showa 14 (1939). Side 1 is stereo and consists of re-recordings by contemporary artists; side 2 is mono and consists of period recordings. The book has sections on the history of telephony in Japan, the Japan Record Award, a long historical article, lyrics to the songs and liner notes, and biographies of the principal musical artists from that period.
