The Australian Dream
Overview
The Australian Dream --- 1996-05-10
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra by arrangement with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Commemorative Edition. Recorded at ABC Studios, Southbank, Melbourne, Australia. Prime Minister's Olympic Dinner IV, Melbourne Park, May 10 1996. Proudly presented by Skilled - Your Flexible Workforce. Disc states "Not permitted for broadcast". This appears to be a free CD issued at a government funded function, containing the pre-recorded soundtrack for the musical and visual presentation at that function, and intended as a momento for those in attendance (hence the lack of broadcast clearance). Conceptually the piece traces the Olympic journey from the Barcelona Olympics to Atlanta (in the year of this performance and CD creation), and celebrates the forthcoming Sydney Olympics in 2000. Tedd Dunn and Bruce Rowland worked together in the mid-1960s on the television programme "The Magic Circle Club".
