Overview

Desde El Otro Lado (Electroacoustic Music From Latin America) --- 1998

"Electroacoustic Samba X" composed 1995, is part of a series of studies on Brazilian rhythms and their relation with computer synthesized timbres. The work uses samples of Brazilian percussion instruments and a new granular synthesis-like system developed by the composer, Chaosynth. "Fy Mor" composed 1991, divided into ten sections. "Chica Aruma" composed 1994, based on an exploration of the language of the Aymara people indigenous to the Andes region of Bolivia. "Syntagma A" composed 1972, tape part created at the Columbia-Princeton Electronic Music Center. "Ohtzalan" composed 1990, performed at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City during the exhibition "Mexico: A Work of Art", and at the IBM Auditorium and the Bronx Museum of Art. "Es Zas" composed 1993, originally intended to be presented using the Octophonic Sound System, re-mixed for stereo configuration. "Todo Es Uno" composed 1995, derives all its sounds from two sources: the energy signals from a pulsar 175 light years from Earth, as recorded by the Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico; and the transference of sound of several aminoacids from the human organism, as registred by a Canadian researcher. "Ashram" composed 1991, commissioned by [a543508]. All of the sounds on the tape part were produced via electronic processing of acoustic mukha veena sounds. ℗ & © 1998, oodiscs inc.
