Voices From The Past (Norwegian Singers In Norwegian Songs 1889 - 1955) --- 1991

Voices from the Past contains a selection of 25 songs performed by singers active between 1970 and 1975 and captured in sound between 1889 and 1955. Most of the tracks on this CD were copied from the original 78s and tapes in the Dørumsgaard-Valenza collection in Marzio, Italy. The rest were taken from the Marco Contini collection in Milan, from the Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound in Stavanger and from the Norwegian Music Library in Oslo. All the transfers were made electrically with the sole exception of track 3, which was recorded acoutically from a Pathé Phonograph. When processing these recordings the utmost care was taken to remove as much noise, hiss and clicks as possible without destroying the singer's timbre in any way.
