Overview

Three Rooms --- 2007

"Delicate Abrasions" - 12-channel site-specific sound installation with six stone/steel listening benches, made for the Shack Obscura at Klaudia Marr Gallery in Santa Fé, New Mexico in 2003. All sound were derived from tactile interaction with the interior surfaces and materials of the building: nails, dust, sliding door, concrete, metal, glass, and wood. (dedicated to Steve Roden) "Center of Gravity" - My final solo performance was in 2002, using only my breath processed with EQ, reverb, and delay. This material was edited and remixed for release in 2007, and now more closely resembles the original concert version. (dedicated to Ruth Anderson, Annea Lockwood, and Mary Roy) "Mountains Hidden in Mountains" - Made entirely from one strike of the densho at a Zen Buddhist temple in Albuquerque. Originally composed in 2002, it was adapted as a participatory sound installation in a dark, triangular room in the base of a faux bell tower at the Santa Fé Art Institute in 2004. This piece uses extremely low frequencies, down to about 40 hz; listeners with smaller speakers may need to lower the volume or bass controls to avoid distortion. (dedicated to the memory of Robert Winson) Thanks: Klaudia Marr, Christine Wallers, Leonard Koren, Susan York, Dubhe Carreño, Trevor Martin, Johanna Callard, Sid Walter, Michael Schippling, Diane Karp, Rick Fisher, and Paulo Raposo.
