A Horse With No Name

Overview

A Horse With No Name --- undefined

This Warner Brothers release (K16128) began life as a maxi play single, with two tracks on the 'A' side (as seen from the demo version listed here [r3487770]). However, a some point after it's initial release, Warner's clearly decided that it should revert back to a standard, one song per side, single release, but retain the original cat. no. (odd decision). It would seem that this message failed to reach all staff at the UK pressing plant, as the label listing the second 'A' side track carried on to be used on this 'one track per side' 45. Hence the label shows the original second 'A' side track 'Everyone I Meet Is From California', written by Dan Peek, but the record doesn't play it. It only plays 'Horse With No Name' as per the later issues of this release. Strangely, a 1978 issue of this release, on the plain buff coloured label, also shows both tracks on the 'A' side label, but also lists both tracks as being present. So the second track seems to have re appeared in 1978, but disappeared again here [r14390715] later in 1978, unless, of course these 'one track per side' issues were intended for Jukebox use. It is notable that the runouts on this release show 'Sandman' as the 'A' side and 'Horse with no name' as the 'B' side, despite the labels showing the opposite. In any case this issue is a miss print as it shows two track on side A, but it only plays one track.
