Overview
The Boston Tapes --- 2008
The Boston Tapes are the first official recordings Nektar made, which was in Boston, 22 June 1970. Shortly afterwards, the band was contracted by Bellaphon records, who bought the recordings and the rights and let Nektar record Journey To The Centre Of The Eye. These recordings were remastered by the band in 2006 for a release on their Collectors Corner series, a sort of fanclub subscription series. Although it was meant to be download-only, some CDs were printed (although it might be a CDRs with silk-print label). No cover was made at the time. Since the Collectors Corner only released CDs for a short while and ceased to exist not long after, this item must be extremely rare. The mastering on this release is rather sloppy. Where Did You Go? has its intro indexed as a separate track. The first seconds of the intro of Good Day are still in the track index for Candlelight. The bonus tracks were recorded live in 2004 or 2005 with the lineup of [a579978], [a265067], [a1302740], and [a2000336]. Info from the two official Nektar sites (first maintained by Roye Albrighton until his death; second maintained by other members): http://www.nektarsmusic.com/ns/discography.asp http://www.thenektarproject.com/discography/boston.aspx The Boston Tapes were later also released on a re-issue of [r4623769].
