«Some months back the 'Oath of Janta' CEO commissioned me for a voice-based mix and thusly I have delivered. Featuring sterling examples from my own collection, as well as a rough draft of a piece I have been working on for awhile utilizing a busted Spanish lesson guide reel of early 60's vintage, this arrangement presents a fairly liberal interpretation of the vocal as sonic nucleus. Selections range from more or less traditional rock set ups that employ distinctive singing methods, foreign language radio plays, 'Real People' a-Capella reverie, a-Capella renditions of infamously lurid text, and of course the sort of hewn Sound Poetry that became part and parcel with other cross-disciplinary approaches flourishing throughout various late 20th century Avant Garde strains. As usual, sound's physical, spatial and contextual qualities are privileged over technical proficiency of any kind. I trust O.o.J.'s listeners can forgive, even embrace, such shortcomings, and may perhaps find something new of interest herein.» -T.D., May 2018
