Sparse fields and gray skies. This was the birthplace of Flares, a band created by Marc Alan to define a new aesthetic. At the heart of Flares, hand crafted sounds and intricate composition set the tone for every song. Flares released his 2014 debut album ‘Dimensions Divide Us’ produced by Ben Lukas Boysen (Erased Tapes) with sound design in leading form. The framework has since grown to include distorted guitars blending with electronic elements to conjure a personality of its own. Produced by Taylor Larson (From First To Last) and Spencer Sotelo (Periphery), ‘Traces of You’ embodies a beauty in decay color and contrast. Powerful melody is woven through layers of texture, constantly exposing and hiding through moments of vulnerability. Blurring the line between desperation and hope, Flares defines a sonic signature that mirrors the authentic conviction captured in lyrical themes of loss and accepting reality.
