Overview

MacumBass --- 2017-07-26

Text from the press release: "MacumBass" is the first single from the forthcoming album "Grooves In The Eden" by Brazilian bass hero Jorge Pescara. It features percussion master Laudir de Oliveira, who was a member of the Chicago group for over 10 years, and also recorded with Joe Cocker, Chick Corea, Sergio Mendes, Airto, Flora Purim, Herb Alpert and many others. After two acclaimed albums as a leader, "Grooves In The Temple" and "Knight Without Armour," both released worldwide, Brazilian bass hero Jorge Pescara releases the first single ("Macumbass") from his eagerly awaited third solo project, "Grooves In The Eden," to be released on the Los Angeles-based label JSR (Jazz Station Records), headed by producer Arnaldo DeSouteiro, famous for his work with Joao Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Deodato, Joao Donato, Marcos Valle and other jazz and bossa nova giants. The "MacumBass" single includes, actually, two tracks: "MacumBass" (RVG Mix) and "MacumNoiseBass" (Pete Turner Mix). The song is an outstanding adaptation of a traditional Macumba chant with vocals & congas by Brazilian percussion legend Laudir de Oliveira. A former member of the supergroup Chicago for over 10 years - having recorded such huge hits like "Happy Man" and "If You Leave Me Now," for which he won a Grammy award -, Laudir also recorded with Joe Cocker (the hit "Feelin' Alright" from the groundbreaking album "With A Little Help From My Friends"), Chick Corea (the landmark albums "Tap Step" and "Touchstone"), Michael Jackson and The Jacksons ("Destiny"), Sergio Mendes ("Primal Roots," "Love Music," "Sergio Mendes & The New Brasil 77," "Brasil 88"), Airto, Flor a Purim, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Maria Bethania, Gerry Mulligan and even with soccer player Pelé. Laudir and Pescara have been friends for over 2 decades, and the percussionist had recorded previously with him on the "Grooves In The Temple" album. Pescara has toured Europe and Asia with singer Ithamara Koorax, having recorded two albums with her: "Brazilian Butterfly" and "Got To Be Real." Stay tuned for updates on the release plans for "Grooves In The Eden" and other singles!
