Overview

Automatic Synthesis --- 2016-09-21

All music written using Max/MSP, and various synthesizer modules. The patches would run completely on their own, spitting out control voltage values based on given parameters of controlled randomness. Meant to be listened to as a continuous piece in movements, the variations come with these parameters and the patching of the synthesizer. At no point was the synthesizer, or patch, manipulated by a human once the movement begins (ie. each track signifies a different variation, but the variation stays throughout that track). 'Phase Recognitions' are explorations of gates opening and closing at various speeds, all of which remain constant. Slow changes in rhythm, cause slow changes in timbre. The duration of six minutes for each movement was an arbitrary one, as all of these pieces are theoretically infinite in length.
