The Great David Ruffin: The Motown Solo Albums, Vol. 1 --- 2005-08-26

'My Whole World Ended' album information page (pg. 6): 'My Whole World Ended' issued as Motown MS685, May 1969; #1 R&B (2 weeks), #31 Pop. (Album/track producers and arrangers were not listed on the LP jacket.) Songs for the album were recorded in Detroit, at Hitsville (Studio A) with horns and strings overdubbed at Golden World (Studio B), from July 1968 throught the first week of April 1969. Everlasting Love was first tracked for the Four Tops in early February 1968; they did not record vocals and the tune was re-assigned to Ruffin and overdubbed by him in March 1969. Singles issued from the album: My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me) b/w I've Got To Find Myself A Brand New Baby Motown 1140, January 20, 1969; #2 R&B, #9 Pop I've Lost Everything I've Ever Loved b/w We'll Have A Good Thing Going On Motown 1149, September 20, 1969; #11 R&B, #58 Pop ________________________________________ 'Feelin' Good' album information page (pg. 10): 'Feelin' Good' issued as Motown MS696, November 1969; #9 R&B, #148 Pop Arrangers: Willie Shorter, Paul Riser, Wade Marcus, Henry Cosby, and David Van DePitte (Album/track producers were not listed on the LP jacket.) Songs for the album were recorded in Detroit, at both Hitsville (Studio A) and Golden World (Studio B), from February 1969 and September 1969, except the Berry Gordy-produced I'm So Glad I Fell For You, which was tracked in Los Angeles and later overdubbed in Detroit. The Letter, I Let Love Slip Away, One More Hurt and I Pray Everyday were completed before the release of 'My Whole World Ended' and set aside; the backing track for I Let Love Slip Away had originally been recorded for Marvin Gaye in December 1968, but he did not record vocals and the tune was re-assigned to Ruffin three months later. The rest of the LP was then recorded similarly, July through September 1972. The Rovin' Kind and Go On With Your Bad Self were originally tracked well before these sessions for the Four Tops (May 1971) and Eddie Kendricks (November-December 1971), respectively, then re-assigned to Ruffin during the main LP recording dates.
