"Dunkelgraue Lieder" is a deeply reworked version of the 1996 Allerseelen album "Sturmlieder". Now, 21 years later, Gerhard Hallstatt has returned to his classic masterpiece and offers a new look on this great work. Digitally remastered, this album also features 7 tracks which didn't appear on the 1996 release. The original tracks with their "Sturm und Drang" attitude have been placed in the middle of the new album, wrapped in the new ones which are more philosophical, melancholic and permeated with sad beauty. Sonically they are also more into krautpop / neofolk sounding of today's Allerseelen making a contrast to the harsh and abrasive tunes from the mid 90's. As a result we have a very interesting reminiscence of the past with a kind of a comment from the present, some wise and soft look back on one’s young spiritual Nietzschean extremities.
