Dixieland Jass Band One Step / Livery Stable Blues --- 1917-04-15
Original release on Victor Batwing label with price notice "75c. in U. S. A." but without the word VICTOR on the side of Nipper’s gramophone (used mid-1916 to Fall 1917). B: Fox Trot A side (mx: B-19332, take 3) recorded New York, NY, February 26, 1917. B side (mx. B-19331, take 1) recorded New York, NY, February 26, 1917. Widely considered to be the first Jazz record ever issued, this record made Jazz music become an international phenomenon and inspired many other bands during World War I. This first pressing includes "Dixieland" in the title on side A, later shortened to "Dixie" in subsequent pressings. Price on both sides. Side B reads "Livery Stable Blues / Composed and played by Original Dixieland 'Jass' Band." The words "Composed and played by" were omitted from the second release.
