Sole Unlimited

Profile

Chicago-based mixtape production and distribution company founded, owned and operated by Radoslaw "Radek" Hawryszczuk. Sole Unlimited aka [l=Sole Unlimited Distribution] also distributed some vinyl releases from the labels manufactured by sister company [l=Dust Traxx, Inc.] The company had links to Canada as many mixtapes had "Made in Canada" on them. The authenticity of many of the Sole Unlimited mixtapes have come into question as some mixes weren't authorized by the original DJ. Sole Unlimited and many mixtape companies like them have have also been heavily scrutinized by the DJs over the years due to unfair business practices. Sole Unlimited was rumored to have only either paid the DJs a one-time payment for the mix and never paid out any royalties or portions of the mixtape sales or outright never paid the DJs anything. Because of these circumstances, some Sole Unlimited releases are semi-unofficial and unofficial. Sole Unlimited mixtapes have undergone changes throughout the years. Phase one (mid 1990s): - Were recorded on chrome cassettes. The cassettes are clear with glossy, black inserts inside the cassette. - Only had a label one one side of the cassette - The label was always white and was printed using Times New Roman font in all bold, capital block lettering. - Version One mixtapes may or may not have a j-card. - Company name and catalog number are not listed Phase two (late 1990s, pre-millennium): - Were recorded on chrome cassettes. The cassettes are clear with glossy, black inserts inside the cassette. - Only had a label one one side of the cassette (unless it was a battle/versus style release) - The label were printed on various colored paper. The colors were typically pastels, and ranged from white, beige, red, purple, etc. - The labels were printed using a curling, vignette-style font, all in unbold, capital block lettering - Version Two mixtapes may or may not have a j-card. - Company name and catalog number are not listed Phase three (1998 onwards): - Were recorded on chrome cassettes. The cassettes are a solid flat color (typically either black or white). - Cassettes had no labels; information was printed directly on the cassette. The information was also expanded on. - Release always came with a j-card. The j-card includes digital artwork and a professional design. - Company name appears on the j-card
