GNP

Profile

US label launched circa 1956 and previously known as [l=Gene Norman Presents] since 1954, when [a=Gene Norman] was a concert arranger and owned the Crescendo night club in Los Angeles. Many releases were recorded there. The logo was underlined with [l=Gene Norman Presents] on white background. In 1962 the label appearance changed to [l=GNP Crescendo], red background, bold while letters on the top perimeter. Later the design changed to a horizontal wording on top. In 1963 Norman sold his night club to concentrate on the label and the repertoire changed from just jazz to a wide range of popular music. The [l=GNP] logo still appears on non-US releases after 1962 or as a short-cut for company tasks, f.ex. copyrights or license.
