[b]NOTE:[/b] Please only use this entry for recordings and masterings made from 1969 to 1972. For recordings and masterings made prior to 1969, use [l316753]. Updated, state-of-the-art recording, dubbing, editing and mastering facility opened in April 1969 as a replacement for the earlier [l316753]. There were 3 studios (1, 2, and 3). Major recording acts both on and outside RCA cut records there, and many custom clients (namely [l=Motown] and [l=Ovation Records]) and artists (such as [a=Curtis Mayfield]) used these facilities for various services from recording to disc mastering. Engineers included [a=Roger Anfinsen], [a=Ed Schnabel], [a=Brian Christian], [a=Russ Vestuto] Among the mastering engineers employed at the "Mid-America Recording Center" were [a=Randy Kling] and [a=Don Holden], who would later relocate to RCA's Nashville and Hollywood studios, respectively, after this studio closed. RCA's Chicago studios closed on April 26, 1972. A few months later, the facilities were taken over by [l292165].
