Canadian record company, production company and recording studio located in Vancouver, BC founded in 1969 by [a=Tom Northcott], [a=Jack Herschorn], and [a=Ralph Harding] via their holding company Libra Industrial Corp. At its inception, Studio 3 Productions included two labels ([l=New Syndrome Records] / [l=New Syndrome Records Ltd.] and [l=Capilano Records]) and six publishing companies ([l=Gondola Music], [l=Vancouver Publishing Co.], [l=Jack & Jill Music], [l=Arbutus Music], [l=Gastown Music]). The recording studio equipment was purchased entirely from [l=Western Recorders] in Los Angeles and installed in Vancouver by Western engineer Bob Felthousen. It established labels [l=Stamp Records (5)] and [l=Pacific North Records] in 1972; [l=Sweetwater Records (3)] and [l=Natural Sounds] in 1974. In 1974 Harding joined up with Timbre One Productions Ltd. and the studio changed names to [l=Timbre One Sound Studios Ltd.]. In 1976 Harding took control again and renamed it after his production company [l=Total Sounds West]. Often credited as "A Studio 3 Production" Chief engineer for the studio was [a=Tap Suo-Antilla] (aka [a=Tap the Finn]). He constructed a new 16-track console for the studio in 1970, at the time one of the most advanced consoles in North America.
