Guilde Internationale du Disque is the local French subsidiary of the Musical Masterpiece Society label, founded in 1953, operated mainly by correspondence, with the first subscription series in 1954, but also through a ~25 retail outlets in the country, with the last one closing in the early 80s. Merged in 1986 with [l45311]. The company was occasionally credited as G. I. D. * The [b]MMS[/b] cat# come from the American origins of the guild: the [l=Musical Masterpiece Society], itself originated from [l=concert hall]. * the [b]SMS[/b] cat# refer to the stereo recordings. Vinyl: One or two letters may appear on labels, identifying the pressing plant. TU = [l316007] P = [l=Philips Phonografische Industrie] or [l=Phonodisc B.V.] F = [l407968] (until 1971) and [l407953] from 1972 onwards
