Всесоюзная Студия Грамзаписи

Profile

"Vsesoyuznaja Studija Gramzapisi" (translated as "All-Union recording studio") was founded on November 5, 1957 in Moscow, USSR, and started as a label, but was also a recording studio and occassionaly a record pressings plant. The Logo of the pre-[l15486] plant reads "ВСГ" ("VSG"), which has been used on its releases along with the full title. On July 1964 "VSG" was joined with the "All-Union Melodiya record firm" [l426284] and became its main recording studio. "VSG" also selected repertoire and performers, defined the plan of records to be made, and manufactured matrix copies for all Soviet record plants. Until 1978 VSG had a relatively small production for vinyl and flexy records, which have "Melodiya" logo ([l15486]) along with "Vsesoyuznaja Studija Gramzapisi" (Всесоюзная Студия Грамзаписи) in text on the record label. Note of company/plant in capital letters on records: ВСЕСОЮЗНАЯ СТУДИЯ ГРАМЗАПИСИ. In 1978 the pressing equipment was transferred to the just built [l266315] (or short MOZG) record plant.
