Gratte-Ciel

Profile

Gratte-Ciel "Sky Scraper" was a Paris based independent label, established in October 1976 by the "Rock'n Folk" music journalist [a=Jean-Marc Bailleux], and run by [a=Jean-Marc Patrat] and José Serré. Originally they were distributed by [l=Discobird] (early CIEL series releases with basic text only labels). In 1977 distribution was taken over by the same management as Isadora and distributed via RCA (ZL numbers) for a while introducing the Gratte-Ciel logo. In 1978 the label went back to being independent, but carried on with the new logo label for releases and reissues. Most of the Gratte-Ciel label was underground "left field" experimental progressive and cross-culture music, plus some prog-fusion and pop. They also handled and marketed the labels: Speedball and Tartempion. Labelcode: LC 05735 / LC 5735
